Already with dozens of new works, created in close collaboration with some of the most innovative composers of our time, Ensemble Schwerpunkt's goal is to expand upon the conventional tonal and instrumental possibilities of the brass repertoire.
NEW CD
Ensemble Schwerpunkt's Portrait CD of Iannis Xenakis' music for brass instruments is the result of of a year-long collaboration with the Westdeutscher Rundfunk, Harry Vogt, and Bastille Musique.
The individual works of the album were recorded separately over a period of time spanning from autumn 2021 to summer 2022. This process made it possible for the musicians of Ensemble Schwerpunkt to approach the challenges intrinsic to each of Xenakis' works.
The recording is carefully curated and Ensemble Schwerpunkt is joined by internationally acclaimed musicians such as Lorenzo Soulès, Dirk Rothbrust and Edicson Ruiz and went straight to the "Longlist" and eventually also to the "Best list" of the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik. EVENTS
On June 24th Schwerpunkt will perform a wide spectrum of new and contemporary chamber music works at the contemporary music festival in Straubing. More info to come.
